The Town of Weddington Votes to Move Forward with a “Municipal Fire Service Model”

Published on April 3, 2012

The Weddington Town Council held a meeting on April 2, 2012 that discussed the option of creating a municipal fire service model in the Town of Weddington. Councilman Daniel Barry made the motion, which ultimately passed and will move the process forward towards establishing a municipal fire service area.

The town currently contracts with Wesley Chapel VFD, Stallings VFD and Providence VFD to provide fire and rescue services within the Town of Weddington. With a municipal fire service model, all three departments will continue to contract with the town, and the individual fire departments will continue to run as independent, standalone departments.

For additional information, refer to a comprehensive letter sent by Mayor Walker Davidson to the residents of Weddington discussing a municipal fire service model.
